FEATURES

Learn how the tried and tested functions of the Pallas G i-Size can help keep your child safe and supported from their first trips as a toddler up until their pre-teen years.

40% reduction in neck injuries

The Advanced Impact Shield reduces the risk of neck injuries in a frontal collision, with superior performance compared to a harness system. In a head-on collision the child rolls forward over the impact shield which acts in a similar way to an airbag, with impact force distributed across its large surface area. This reduces strain on the vulnerable neck and protects the child’s head.

More than 10 years of usability

A 2-in-1 Seat that grows with your little one throughout their childhood—from toddler to pre-teen. Your child is protected by an impact shield until they grow to 21 kg. Then the impact shield is removed and the seat is secured by the vehicle seatbelt, providing reliable protection until they reach a height of 150 cm (approx. 12 years old).

Secures your child in seconds

The Integrated Adjustable Impact Shield secures your child easily, quickly and reliably, with research showing that impact shields have a significantly lower error rate than harness systems¹ (see Functions page). This new impact shield features a convenient buckle system—no more leaning over your child or struggling with seatbelts. The impact shield’s adjustable fit ensures excellent comfort for your growing child.

FAQs

Can I install the ISOFIX System on a car seat which doesn't have the ISOFIX connectors?

No. Car seat models without an ISOFIX System cannot be retrofitted. Please do not adapt or tamper with car seats to make them fit, as the authorities do not allow any technical changes to them.

What kind of clothing should my child wear when seated in the car seat?

Thick clothing prevents the harness/vehicle belt or impact shield from lying tight against the body of the child. Only a correct adjusted restraint system can offer maximum protection. For this reason, your child should wear everyday clothing. Thick clothing such as winter jackets and clothing with hoods (e.g. hoodies) as well as hats should be avoided where possible. Once your child has been positioned in the car seat, s/he can be covered with an extra blanket for warmth.

Can I use the car seat even when the side airbag is activated?

Yes, the side airbag can remain activated when using the car seat.

Do both side-impact protectors (L.S.P.s) have to be installed?

The Linear Side-impact Protection (L.S.P.) reduces the forces of a side-impact collision and thus also the risk of injury. Generally, we advise parents to install the L.S.P. on both sides of the car seat. If, however, there is insufficient space to install the L.S.P. nearest the middle of the vehicle, it is not absolutely essential. For safety reasons, please ensure that the L.S.P. nearest the door is always installed.

How should the headrest be adjusted?

Only a headrest adjusted to the optimum height will give your child the best possible protection and comfort. The height can be adjusted in various positions. The headrest must be adjusted so no more than 2 cm fit between the child's shoulders and the bottom of the headrest.

Can I use the car seat on lateral facing vehicle seats?

It is not permissible to use the car seat on lateral facing vehicle seats.

Can I use this car seat on a flight?

No, this car seat is not approved for use on an airplane.

Can I also use this seat in a car without ISOFIX anchorage points?

No, this seat can only be installed in vehicles with ISOFIX anchorage points, due to the fact that it must be installed with ISOFIX in every position. Only in vehicle belt mode (100 - 150 cm height of the child) this car seat can be used also without ISOFIX and top tether. Please refer to the user guide.

Do high-back booster seats perform better than booster seats?

When compared to booster seats, high-back booster seats considerably reduce the risk of injury. Booster seats do not provide proper protection from side-impacts. A high-back booster seat is equipped with side protection which protects the child from injury in the case of a side-impact collision. Moreover, the high-back booster seats include a shoulder belt routing which can be adjusted to the height of the child, further improving their traveling safety.

Is it normal that the car seat's backrest is flexible and has a bit of room to wriggle?

Yes, the backrest is flexible. Therefore the backrest can adapt perfectly to any vehicle seat. In the event of an accident, the backrest moves slightly forward with your child, and is therefore able to secure the whole body early on.

Is it ok to keep using a car seat after an accident?

We at CYBEX strongly recommend that you replace a car seat after any kind of accident. This is because tiny hairline cracks, which may not be visible to the naked eye, can appear in the plastic parts of a car seat after an accident. These cracks can pose an increased risk to safety.

My car seat is faulty, how can I get it repaired?

Please refer to the retailer where you bought your CYBEX car seat. They will deal with the matter on your behalf.

Where can I get replacement parts for my product?

You can order replacement parts from a specialist retailer near you. To find a store near you, simply go to the store locator on our website: https://cybex-online.com/en-en/retailer

What should I bear in mind when installing the car seat in my vehicle?

Before purchasing the car seat it is important to check if it is approved to be used in your vehicle. To install an i-Size child seat, your vehicle must have an i-Size seat to be compatible. We advise going to https://cybex-online.com and checking the 'More Info' section on the product page to find out whether the car seat is compatible with your vehicle. The compatibility can also be checked with the typelist that can be found attached to your car seat. Please do not use any part of this car seat on its own or in combination with boosters, backrests or headrests from other manufacturers or from different CYBEX product series. The car seat can be used only on vehicle seats which are equipped with an automatic 3-point vehicle belt. For the proper protection of your child, it is essential to use and install the car seat according to the instructions given in the user guide. The user guide can be found attached to the car seat, or it can be downloaded on https://cybex-online.com.

My child tries to wriggle out of the car seat. What can I do about this?

As with any other restraint system, a car seat can only fully protect your child if he or she is secured correctly and does not actively try to leave the car seat. Common issues include the opening of belt buckles, the pulling down of shoulder belts on car seats secured by a harness, or the child attempting to wriggle out of a car seat with an impact shield.
- Make sure that the impact shield is properly positioned and secured, sitting tightly against your child's body.
- Tighten the lap belt by pulling the shoulder belt. Afterwards, please insert the shoulder belt into the belt routing.
Please also consider what clothes your child is wearing while sat in the car seat, as thick clothing reduces the protection offered by the impact shield. Please refer to the user guide.
If your child attempts to wriggle out of the impact shield please safely stop the vehicle and explain to your child the importance of staying in the car seat. Make it clear that the journey cannot be continued without proper protection.

What are the main two positions for the reclining headrest?

The patented reclining headrest is a passive safety feature from CYBEX. When the child is awake, the recline angle of the headrest can be set to the upright position. When the child is asleep, the angle of the headrest can be set to the reclined position which prevents the child's head from tipping forward into a vulnerable position while sleeping.

How do I change the Pallas G i-Size from impact shield to 3-point vehicle belt configuration?

To change the Pallas G i-Size to the 3-point vehicle belt configuration you only have to remove the impact shield. The child is then secured by the 3-point vehicle belt. You can convert the Pallas G i-Size after your child exceeds a height of 100 cm. This is not mandatory, and you can continue to use the Pallas car seat with the impact shield until your child reaches 105 cm in height. However it is obligatory to detach the impact shield once the child reaches 21 kg.

How does the Pallas series sleeping position work?

The Pallas series offers a sleeping position that is easily adjustable with only one hand, allowing for a more comfortable position for the child. To recline the Pallas it is not necessary to open the car belt system or to take the child out of the seat. The relevant lever is conveniently located on the front side of the seat. If the child falls asleep or is about to when they are already in the car seat, just pull the handle and the seat slides down automatically.

Is it okay to install this car seat on the passenger seat?

We generally recommend using the car seat on one of the back seats of the vehicle. Statistically, installing the car seat on the passenger seat poses a higher risk of injury for your child. However, in exceptional cases the car seat may be used on the passenger seat as well. Please note the following: if the car is equipped with an airbag, put the passenger seat as far back as possible. Please ensure that the upper belt point of the 3-point vehicle belt always stays behind the belt routing of the car seat, so that the belt runs backwards and not forwards.

Will my child feel constrained in the car seat because of the impact shield?

The impact shield is not rigid and can be adjusted to give the growing child sufficient freedom of movement while also giving the best protection. It must also be adjusted depending on the clothes the child is wearing.

Is material fatigue an issue because of the long period of time the car seat can be used for?

CYBEX uses high-quality and extremely age-resistant plastics and fabrics in its products to prevent wear and tear. The Pallas G i-Size car seat can be used for over 10 years.
However, nothing lasts forever and over time even the high-quality plastics we use can display certain age-related change. Therefore, we strongly recommend that our car seats are not used for longer than the prescribed usage periods.

Can I use a Pallas car seat that is supplied with an impact shield without using it?

The use of a Pallas car seat without impact shield depends on the size and weight of your child. For more information, please refer to the user manual of your Pallas child seat.

How do I install the cup holder?

You can install the cup holder easily by sliding it into one of the slots in the shell on each side of the car seat. The position of the slots is indicated by a cup holder symbol.

The car seat is approved in compliance with the i-Size standard (UN R129). What does this mean?

i-Size is a European standard for car seats. It specifies, among others, that infants must travel in a rear-facing position before the child's age exceeds 15 months and, for the first time, that side-impact protection is tested. To find out more about i-Size go to https://cybex-online.com/safety-regulations.

What is the Top Tether used for?

The Top Tether serves as the upper anchor point for the child seat and is usually fixed in the trunk. This additionally stabilizes the car seat and prevents rotation of the car seat in the event of an accident. The Top Tether must be used if the car seat is used with an impact shield, otherwise the use of the Top Tether is optional.
